Prayer for Syria
God of Compassion, hear the cries of the people of Syria. Comfort those who suffer violence; Console those who mourn the dead. Give strength to Syria's neighbouring countries to welcome the refugees; Convert the hearts of those who have taken up arms and protect those committed to peace. God of hope, Inspire leaders to choose peace over violence and to seek reconciliation with their enemies. Inflame the Universal Church with compassion for the people of Syria, and give us hope for a future built on justice for all. We ask this through Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace and Light of the World. Amen.

According to the number of bags I saw coming off the bus last Wednesday, it looked like the Boundary Mills Outlet trip was an extremely successful on and I hope all who wend enjoyed themselves. This week Carol Bennett for the Valerie Taylor Trust will be speaking about how they help paralysed people in Bangladesh. If you want to find out some information before Carol?s talk please have a look at http://www.valerietaylortrust.org. Next week 7th December will be our Christmas Lunch, if you want to join us for that please see either Jenny Longfellow, Agnes Baybut or Father David.

Advent Resources
The Bishops Conference are issuing some Advent Resources for us to use in our preparations. As we look to the coming of Christ at Christmas, we're taking a truly global look at the prayer that Jesus gave us - The Lord's Prayer in different language each day and also reflections on the Prophet Isaiah at http://www.catholicnews.org.uk/advent-reflections-2016. Why not use these our Advent this year.

Christmas must be a very difficult time for people who are struggling to make ends meet, and I would imagine the Foodbank will be busy over the festive period. Today, and for the following 2 Sundays we will hold our Foodbank collection. As well as all the usual goods they need why not think of adding some of the festive goods we take for granted in with your donations so as we can make the lives of others a bit brighter this Christmas.

Christmas Lights Switch On
This year the Christmas Tree lights will be switched on in the Hightown Village on Wednesday 30th November at 6.30pm and at the Ince Blundell Village Hall on Friday 2nd December at 6.00pm. All are welcome to attend.

Any parishioners who have parish events please email either Fr Davidor the web master (please put OLOV or HFIB in the subject to get past the spam filters)
